Listen to the words

I’m the type of person who listens to music more for the words than for the music. I think song writers are so talented and some of the most entertaining lines of the written word can be found in songs. Over the years I have kept track of lyrics that I love and have caught my attention. Here are some of my favorite.
• “I feel ugly, but I know I still turn you on.” -Matchbox 20
• “Your smile could change our movie and the world.” -BareNakedLadies
• “Sometimes I get so weird, I even freak myself out.” -Avril
• “You’ve got to get up every morning with a smile on your face and show the word all the love in your heart.” -Carol King
Every time I hear these lines and so many others, I instantly smile. That whats so great about lyrics, they can remind you of so many things and can relate so well to you.
What are your favorite lyrics?
So… I love lyrics as well.. but as soon as you posted the ones you like all the words to songs melted out of my head! But now I think I may have figured out a couple of ones I love!

“Love, on the rocks, with no ice” -The Darkness (also cracks me up every single time)
“When I kiss your lips I want to sink down to the bottom of the sea” -Cake
“The more you try to shave the cat, the more that thing will bite and scratch” – Cake
Oh yes and I love the matchbox twenty one you already put up!
So, I totally totally love two of the three songs you put up and know the lyrics. The Avril one was the only one I didn’t know of beforehand.

Cake has the best lyrics on every song they’ve ever written – hands down – too many to count. Also, the new Wedding Singer musical music rocks!
