Some Projects

Sometimes when I’m at home, I come upstairs to my computer and do that same thing at home that I do at work, design stuff.  Lately, I have done some fun projects that I thought turned out pretty cute. So now you get to see them.  See below for explanations of each of the pieces.

(Because some of the events that I designed invitations for, haven’t happened yet–and I don’t feel that it’s my place to post the dates and times on my blog for just anyone to go and crash the events–I have blurred out the dates.  It wasn’t part of the design, but it’s probably safer since I’m not entirely sure who reads my blog.)

First: My friend at work is getting married soon and she asked me to design her wedding invites.  She was great to work with, she knew exactly what she wanted them to look like.  Her style was really simple and elegant.  Because it was a wedding invite, there were a couple of pieces, the invite, the temple invite, the luncheon RSVP card and a map.

Second: Also for my friend who is getting married is a bridal shower invite. The girls at work are throwing it for her and asked me to help with the invitations. They wanted to do a lingerie party, so that was the theme of the invite. I did two different colors, pink (because it’s so Victoria Secret) and purple because she loves purple. We printed the purple ones, but I loved the vibrancy of the pink, so that’s what you get to see.

Third: Back in April, over spring break we had a Young Woman retreat. I made invites for our event that included the two day agenda and what the girls needed to bring.  I designed it in one long sheet, but so that it could fold into three panels.  I’ve shown the full view and the individual panels.

Enjoy!

(And, this is my 100th post!  Happy 100th post to me.  I’m not sure if this is the most exciting post for my 100th post, but it works, right? For how long I’ve had this blog, 100 posts isn’t really that many, but an exciting milestone, never the less.)

3 Years

Last Tuesday, Bryan and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary.  Even though we didn’t do anything super exciting, I must post about it. We just went out to eat, and then to Target to buy a fan for our bedroom (and we found an awesome fan that has a remote, sadly though the remote didn’t work).

But, I am so happy that Bryan and I are married.  I often think about how much I like being married to him.  He is wonderful. I think I’ll keep him for a little bit.

A Sad Day, Turned Happy

These are my last three cookies, I took a picture as I was mourning

These are my last three cookies, I took a picture as I was mourning

A while ago, my handsome handsome husband send me a link to an article with some horrible news: Mother’s Cookies were going out of business.  You remember Mother’s Cookies?  Pink and white with sprinkles shaped like circus animals?  Yes. Those.

I have loved Mother’s Cookies for a long time.  They are delicious, almost addictive. So when I found out, I bought a bag and have been keeping it safe ever since.  But just a few days I ate the last cookies. As I was thinking about how sad it was that it was the last time that I was going to enjoy the deliciousness of those pink and white cookies, I decided to blog about my sadness.

And I found cause to rejoice!

While I was looking for a nice picture of Mother’s Cookies to post with the post, I found this wonderful article. Mother’s cookies are coming back!  Hooray.

I found another article saying that they were coming back to the shelves soon, and someone on Facebook said they found some again.  So now I must go to the grocery store and find some myself.

Happy Mother’s Day

smaller-moms-day-1I’m a little bit late, but HAPPY MOTHER’S Day!

I was too busy celebrating all the wonderful mothers in my life yesterday to post, but still wanted to pay tribute here.

I have been truly blessed to have wonderful women in my life for as long as I can remember.  I love my mom and am so thankful for all that she has done for me.  I love my mother-in-law and am so glad that I married into such a great family. I’m thankful for my Grandmothers.  I was blessed to be able to know 4 of them and still have 2 living and love their positive examples.  I’ve also be so blessed to have amazing aunts on both sides of my family that I can look up to.  Lately also, I have noticed the wonderful women in my ward, with and without children who are such amazing and strong women.  I have had wonderful friends who have been so positive and uplifting in so many ways and have taught me so many things.

Thank you to all the women in my life. You will never know how much I have learned and grown from your examples.

So to all you mothers out there, young or old, married or unmarried, with children or without: Happy Mothers Day. And even though I’m not a mother yet, I’m so happy and thankful for a day to celebrate the divinity that I have in me to be a mother. The Lord has truly blessed women with a wonderful blessing to nurture, love and take care of those around us. And that is what we can celebrate not matter what stage of life we are in.

(The image is a Mother’s Day Bookmark I made. The bishopric in our ward asked me to help them out by making a mother’s day bookmark to give to the ladies in the ward with a cookie. I thought it turned out pretty and wanted to share it. Enjoy! Oh: also, the background is a really cute digital scrapbooking paper that I bought from scrapgirls.com.  If you like digital scrapbooking they have lots of cute things.)
