It’s Been a While

Posted on 13. Jul, 2009 by katie in me

I don’t always have time to blog or more realisticly, don’t always feel like blogging. And that’s how the whole month of June went.  It was crazy busy and when I did have extra time, I didn’t feel like sitting at my computer.

So I’ve been MIA from blogging and hate writing those “catch up” posts because I like my post to contain really only one idea (it’s just because I’m crazy and like it to be organized that way. I don’t mind “catch up” posts on other people’s blogs). So when I don’t blog for a while, I have a lot of posts to catch up with… I do keep an ongoing list of things I want to blog about, then I never forget.  Something happens and I think, “oh, I should blog about that, so I can remember.”  So I type it into my phone.

Eventually I’ll get around to blogging about these things, but not right now so you get to see the list (then the chances of me actually blogging about each of these things is higher):

  • 4th of July
  • Chicken Nuggets
  • Father’s Day
  • Skirt Wall
  • Texas
  • Vegas
  • Make Up
  • To Do List
  • Facebook Friend Requests
  • The contract

Someday I’ll get around to them; I’m sure of it.

So Out of Shape

Posted on 13. Jul, 2009 by katie in me

For our Young Women’s/Young Men combined activity last week I learned that I am terribly out of shape, oh yes, and we hiked the Y.  I had never hiked the Y before (which is kind of weird because I have lived in Utah County basically my whole life). We had such a great time and I am so glad that I went, but man, it was harder than I thought it was going to be.

Luckily for me, one of our young women wanted to go up the mountain pretty slow, so I was able to hang back with her and just make sure that she wasn’t the last one.  It worked out so well because I didn’t have to keep up with the other young women that made it up in 20 minutes… pretty sure I would have died if I had attempted to keep up with them (we were only 30 minutes behind them in the end).

I took my camera to make sure and document that I did in fact make it to the top, but sadly, the battery died on the way up (kind of how my legs were feeling, but I endured). So you’ll only get a couple of pictures and just have to trust me that I did actually make it.  Ask one of the young women, they’ll vouch for me.

I was SO SORE for the next couple of days.  I think I worked muscles I didn’t even know I had. The weirdest though, was my upper abs hurt. In the car, everytime my husband would break or push on the gas and my upper body would move with the car I would cringe.  I didn’t know that hiking worked that muscle, Bryan said it was the downhill part and that makes sense, so I’ll go with it.

It’s probably time for me to get that gym pass and actually go with Bryan and Kevin.
