This is my dad:
He’s pretty awesome.
Soon, he’ll be sitting up here:
Did you know that the auditions are pretty intense to get into the Mormon Tabernacle Choir? They are.
The first round is a recording of your singing. After you pass that…
The second round is a written exam all about music and singing. If you pass that…
The third round is an in-person interview and audition. You get to meet with the Choir director and some others. You will be tested on vocal range and have to sight read a song that you’ve probably never seen before. You’ll also have to sight-read your part to a song while the piano plays all the other parts. If you pass that…
Then you are allowed into the Temple Square Choral and Choir School. That’s actually where my dad is now. He’s an official member of the Temple Square Choral and Choir School. After working with the Choral until April with practice every Tuesday and Thursday night, then they will decide if he can be an official member of the Choir.
He kept reminding us that not everyone from the Choir school gets into the Choir, but I assured him that once he was there and everyone saw how awesome he was, that he’s a shoe in for the Choir.
I’m so happy for my dad. This has been a dream of his for so long. I’m so glad he’ll finally be able to share his testimony through his voice with the Tabernacle Choir.
Congratulations Dad!

my once roommate and good friend Desiree just got into the motab as well.
now i will have two people to hunt for during conference :)
Hooray! Congratulations to your dad! I still remember you telling me how one time he drove on the shoulder of I-15 to get to something in SLC that had to do with the Choir. I don’t remember anything else but I remember that. Anyway, congratulations again!
That is so incredibly cool. I always knew it was hard to get in, but I never knew HOW hard. Congrats to your Dad. I will keep my eye out for him.
I had no idea it was so strenuous to get into the choir either. I hope your dad makes it in. Congrats to him for jumping through all those hoops though! That’s fabulous!
Go Katie’s Dad! That’s so great!!! Now you’re famous.
Your dad is awesome. His voice is so amazing they are so going to take him.
