It has been a while since I went to this concert, but I haven’t yet had the chance to blog about it. (Sorry the pictures are huge. I’ll try to make them smaller and repost them)

On May 2, my family and I traveled to The Great SaltAir to see visit my older brother (we hadn’t seen him since Oct.) and to see him with his band, The Used, in concert. It was so much fun. We got up to the show early to make sure that we would be able to see the opening acts (Straylight Run). While we were on our way up to Salt Lake though, we listened a little bit to Rob on the radio. Once they got into town his band went to X96 to advertise for the concert later that night. Once at the show, Rob was taking a nap, so we watched the other bands while we waited for him to wake up. Once he woke up, we went behind SaltAir to his bus to see him. It was so great to see him. It had been so long since we had see him. I think he was pretty excited to see us too.

We left him a little while later to give him time to warm up and get ready for his show. Then instead of going back inside and watching from the back of the auditorium, we went in behind the stage and picked a spot to wait for the show to start on the side of the stage. I prefer to be over on the side of the stage because then we aren’t in the middle of the crazy mosh pit. It can get pretty insane in there. Joseph my little brother decided that at this concert he wanted to watch from the mosh pit, so he positioned himself right up front in the center of the crowd. It was pretty crazy. When Rob came out on stage he instantly saw my brother and said into the microphone that he was excited to start the show and to see his brother in the front row.

During the show Rob yelled for everyone who was a fan of The Used to scream. We stood and yelled, to support our brother. While we were yelling, the guitarist, Quinn, saw my dad cheering and stopped Rob. He said, “Bert, I found the biggest Used fan,” and Rob stopped and said, “Who?” Quinn pointed to my dad and Rob stopped and said, “Hey, it’s my dad! Everyone say ‘Hey Ed.’” Then the whole crowd yelled, “Hey Ed!” Rob then stopped for a minute and said, “Let’s have a little moment, let’s bring my mom and dad up on stage.” And so he did. The bouncers helped my mom and dad climb up on the stage. It was actually really cool to see. While on stage he hugged and kissed both of them. My parents and my brother have been through a lot and I think it is so wonderful that he loves them so much and is so close to them and I know how proud of him they are. It’s pretty awesome to see some time. Watch the Video below of my mom and dad’s moments on stage.

Also during the concert, Rob brought a bunch of people up on stage to be his “backup dancers” during one of the songs and he called up my little sister, Rachel. It was so funny. Needless to say, she didn’t really fit in with most of the other people up on that stage. It was pretty entertaining to watch her dance up there. Apparently, she can’t dance very well (neither can the rest of us though). I’ll post the video of her dancing later. She’s great.

Anyway. It was an awesome concert. I love my brother so much and I’m so glad that I was able to see him. Here’s some more pictures. Enjoy!

For a long time men and women have argued about if the toilet seat should be up or should be down. Men leave the bottom seat up and women fall in. Women leave the seat down and men have to lift it up before they use the restroom and then put it back down to ward off the wrath of the woman with the wet behind. For me, I’ve found that this is a particularly hot topic, not because Bryan doesn’t put the toilet seat down when he is finished, but because other people when they visit my house don’t put it back down the way it was when they found it. You see, Bryan and I have come to an agreement, that if he has to put the toilet seat down, then I have to put the toilet seat down as well (and besides that, who really needs to walk into a bathroom and see the inside of your toilet). So anytime you come into our house, you will find all of the lids on all of the toilets in our house in the down position. Not until just recently did I discover that it bothered me when people don’t put it back down, but it does (remember that next time you come to our house ).

Anyway. The moral of the story is, if everyone puts all the seats of the toilet down then the great debate will be ended and there will be more peace in the world.

And by the way: I thought this picture of the toilet was so funny. You can find more here. People are so creative sometimes.

I am allergic to a lot of strange things. When I was younger, I didn’t have any allergies. But since the summer of 2004, I have discovered more allergies than I ever could images I could have. The way I found out about my allergies was always bizarre too. My first experience was with Tide the laundry detergent. I was working at the time at Target as a cashier. One day while I was helping a customer checkout, they had a box of powder tide. As I passed the box across the scanner it slipped out of my hand and POOF, Tide everywhere — in the air, on the scanner, on the floor, on my clothes — everywhere. At the time I didn’t think much about it, except my arms were a little bit itchy. I cleaned up the tide around my lane and went to the bathroom to wash my arms. Finished work that day and went home. The next morning, I woke up and my legs were itching like crazy. I looked down at them and realized my legs were completely covered in hives the size of pieces of bread (and probably raised off my legs that think too). They were huge and horribly itchy. My mom promptly took me to the InstaCare where I had my first experience with ephinephrine (at least I think that it what they gave me). It was horrible and I never want to have to have that again. For the next 3 days, we couldn’t get the hives to go away and I will miserable. The only thing we could link it to, was the tide. Since that one experience I have had so many strange unexplainable allergy experiences. And today I had another one. I was just sitting at work and began to get more and more itchy as the day went on. Then came the hives. They weren’t too bad today, but you could see them. Right after I got the things done that I needed to and knew I had my 40 hours I came home and took some Benadryl (it always works amazing miracles). It basically wipes me out though. I slept through most of the Jazz game this evening. Good thing they won. Stay tuned for my weird eye allergy story.

I am so clumsy; I run into things constantly and this week was no different than normal.

Sometimes, just to be a little silly, I run and jump on Bryan expecting him to catch me (not always smart) and this sometimes leads to pain.

Earlier this week (on Tuesday), Bryan and I were talking in the kitchen. He was sitting on our bench next to our table and I decided to run and jump on him, while he was sitting on the bench. I backed up almost to the fridge and started toward him. I jumped up and … … most of me made the jump. Just not my leg. I slammed just below my knee into the bench and these pictures are what happened (please excuse the blinding white/non-shaved leg):

Now, you have to know I took this pictures Friday afternoon, so it had been quite a few days since the accident. Right after I hit the bench, I looked at my leg and it was already bruising. Wednesday, when I woke up, the bruise was way uglier and had a strange white center (my friend Andrea said that was a bad sign with bruises). Next time, I’ll have to watch out for stationary objects.
