1-Year Pictures

This last weekend we ventured out and had some pictures taken to commemorate James’ one year birthday. We were so ready. We made sure that he had a nice long nap, ate a big lunch and had everything he needed to be happy through the whole photoshoot. We brought some toys and distractions to keep him smiling and busy while a stranger with a camera got up in his grill.

Everything was perfect. Then, just as the photographer was setting up the lighting and getting ready to take the first picture, James tripped and bit his lip.

It was tragic.

And his little sad face was so heartbreaking. But he started to give us little smiles.

Then he got a little confused and thought we wanted him to pose for a fashion magazine.

Then we pulled out some balls from our ball pit that we brought and he was in heaven.

In the end, I think we got some really cute pictures. My little guy is so handsome.

I can’t believe how big he looks and is getting. Time flies.

Dear Dove

(The body wash and shampoo… not the bird or the chocolate)

I love your body wash. I love that it keeps my skin soft in the harsh, dry winters of Utah. I also love the smell.

However, I do not love your bottle design.

One of the good things about the design of a product used in the shower is the ability for the bottle to stand up and remain standing while upside down. This allows the showerer to use even the very last drop of the bottle. With the pointed tip of your bottle, it is difficult to turn upside down. I have propped it up against the wall, but it always tips and falls over (this was an especially big problem when I was pregnant).

For a while, because it was such a pain, I switched body wash (gasp). I have come back to Dove because my legs are dry and itchy and I know that Dove will help, even more than regular lotion application. But knowing that when I near the end of the bottle and have to figure out a way to prop it upside down bothers me.

In the past, I have tried your shampoo and enjoyed it, but will probably not use it again because of the bottle shape (and the price…sorry, there are other brands that work just as well, but cost much less). I know it sounds harsh, but this upside down system is even more important in shampoo and conditioner. Your conditioner did have the flip top on the bottom, so it never had to be turned upside down (which was nice), why can’t you do the same for the shampoo and body wash?

I understand that redesigns can be long and costly, but please consider it soon. Having a flat top will not hurt the asthetic of your bottle, but would make me so much happier.

Thanks!

An Accident Waiting to Happen

My sad legI am an accident waiting to happen. I am so clumsy; I run into things constantly and this week was no different than normal.

Sometimes, just to be a little silly, I run and jump on Bryan expecting him to catch me (not always smart) and this sometimes leads to pain.

Earlier this week (on Tuesday), Bryan and I were talking in the kitchen. He was sitting on our bench next to our My Yucky Bruisetable and I decided to run and jump on him, while he was sitting on the bench. I backed up almost to the fridge and started toward him. I jumped up and … … most of me made the jump. Just not my leg. I slammed just below my knee into the bench and these pictures are what happened (please excuse the blinding white/non-shaved leg):

Now, you have to know I took this pictures Friday afternoon, so it had been quite a few days since the accident. Right after I hit the bench, I looked at my leg and it was already bruising. Wednesday, when I woke up, the bruise was way uglier and had a strange white center (my friend Andrea said that was a bad sign with bruises). Next time, I’ll have to watch out for stationary objects.
