I have been serving in the Young Women in my ward for about a year and a half now and have been working on completing my personal progress as a leader. I have been working on it a bit here and there, but have set a goal to be done with it very soon and need your help with one of my value experiences.

I am currently working on Individual Worth Value Experience #7:

7. Heavenly Father has given you special gifts. Read 1 Corinthians 12:4–12; 1 Corinthians 13; Moroni 7:12–13; Moroni 10:8–18; and D&C 46:11–26.

Ask a family member, a Young Women leader, and a friend to write down positive qualities the Lord has given you. List your gifts in your journal, and write how you can continue to develop these gifts and use them to serve your family and others.

If you have a few moments and can think of something off the top of your head, can you please be my friend (that the goal mentions) and list one of the positive qualities that you think the Lord has given me?

If you have the time, I would really appreciate it.

As I have been working on these experiences, I have forgotten what a wonderful blessing the personal progress program is and how much these simple value experiences can strengthen my testimony. If you have the chance, if you work with the Young Woman or for any reason, these goals are a wonderful way to add a little bit extra to your personal scripture study or just to help continue to grow spiritually.

You can get a book at the distribution center, or find it online here from www.lds.org.

Thanks for any help you can give!

For our Young Women’s/Young Men combined activity last week I learned that I am terribly out of shape, oh yes, and we hiked the Y. I had never hiked the Y before (which is kind of weird because I have lived in Utah County basically my whole life). We had such a great time and I am so glad that I went, but man, it was harder than I thought it was going to be.

Luckily for me, one of our young women wanted to go up the mountain pretty slow, so I was able to hang back with her and just make sure that she wasn’t the last one. It worked out so well because I didn’t have to keep up with the other young women that made it up in 20 minutes… pretty sure I would have died if I had attempted to keep up with them (we were only 30 minutes behind them in the end).

I took my camera to make sure and document that I did in fact make it to the top, but sadly, the battery died on the way up (kind of how my legs were feeling, but I endured). So you’ll only get a couple of pictures and just have to trust me that I did actually make it. Ask one of the young women, they’ll vouch for me.

I was SO SORE for the next couple of days. I think I worked muscles I didn’t even know I had. The weirdest though, was my upper abs hurt. In the car, everytime my husband would break or push on the gas and my upper body would move with the car I would cringe. I didn’t know that hiking worked that muscle, Bryan said it was the downhill part and that makes sense, so I’ll go with it.

It’s probably time for me to get that gym pass and actually go with Bryan and Kevin.

So now you get to see them. See below for explanations of each of the pieces.

(Because some of the events that I designed invitations for, haven’t happened yet–and I don’t feel that it’s my place to post the dates and times on my blog for just anyone to go and crash the events–I have blurred out the dates. It wasn’t part of the design, but it’s probably safer since I’m not entirely sure who reads my blog.)

First: My friend at work is getting married soon and she asked me to design her wedding invites. She was great to work with, she knew exactly what she wanted them to look like. Her style was really simple and elegant. Because it was a wedding invite, there were a couple of pieces, the invite, the temple invite, the luncheon RSVP card and a map.

Second: Also for my friend who is getting married is a bridal shower invite. The girls at work are throwing it for her and asked me to help with the invitations. They wanted to do a lingerie party, so that was the theme of the invite. I did two different colors, pink (because it’s so Victoria Secret) and purple because she loves purple. We printed the purple ones, but I loved the vibrancy of the pink, so that’s what you get to see.

Third: Back in April, over spring break we had a Young Woman retreat. I made invites for our event that included the two day agenda and what the girls needed to bring. I designed it in one long sheet, but so that it could fold into three panels. I’ve shown the full view and the individual panels.

Enjoy!

(And, this is my 100th post! Happy 100th post to me. I’m not sure if this is the most exciting post for my 100th post, but it works, right? For how long I’ve had this blog, 100 posts isn’t really that many, but an exciting milestone, never the less.)
